Academia Sinica’s Institute of Zoology and Joint Commission on Rural Reconstruction in Taiwan asked Aquabio to review Taiwan’s extensive artificial reef program.

Aquabio's Role

• Review of Taiwan's artificial reef program, including extensive site visits and failure mode analyses
• Review of Taiwan's aquaculture facilities used for stocking the artificial reefs

Results of the Review of Taiwan's Artificial Reef Program

• Aquabio's recommendations to Academia Sinica resulted in improved artificial reef design and construction methods in Taiwan
• Implementation of methods recommended to Academia Sinica by Aquabio to integrate stocking and habitat enhancement
• Identification of management initiatives to control and reduce destruction of natural and artificial reefs
